Canoe Race on the Quinebaug River sponsored by the local Lions Club and the Hospital Auxiliary runs their annual fund raiser "The Duck Race" on the Quinebaug River after the Canoe Race. Thousands of yellow rubber ducks are dumped into the river and the first 5 ducks over the finish line provide some cash for the winners. There is lots of fun, food and music while all these activities take place at Westville Recreation Area in Southbridge.

Quinebaug Valley Arts Council offers on-going exhibits and is dedicated to perpetuating the arts and humanities of artist in the area - within walking distance of the Inn.

Earth Day Festival -- Worcester

A day of family-fun activities. Meet live bats with Robert Mies and the Organization for Bat Conservation, track trash with children’s author Loree Griffin Burns, and learn how small changes can make a huge difference on Earth from eco-friendly exhibitors. "Relay for Life" at Southbridge High School helps raise awareness in the cure for cancer.

Pachaug Forest has some interesting habitats: large pine barrens, a unique white cedar swamp and a rare rhododendron sanctuary.  These are the aptly named giant rhododendron, and the blooms are big.  They are native to Connecticut, but are found in but a handful of locations in southeastern Connecticut.  The 26-acre rhododendron sanctuary is a state designated Natural Area Preserve, blooming late in June to early July.  Pachaug hosts dog sled races in the winter.

Woodstock Fair- just 15 minutes away in Woodstock, CT

Artists in the Country - The 7th juried Artists in the Country, outdoor show and sale will be happening Sept 15-16th, 2007. This is a fine quality art show with many wonderful talented artists from the New England and New York areas. It's a groovey time in the fresh country air!

Textile Weekend at Old Sturbridge Village annual textile weekend focuses on clothing and fashion, inviting visitors to explore the sources of inspiration for early New England fashions and the techniques used in sewing, knitting, and embroidery to achieve the desired result. •The 12th annual Living Nativity Pageant will be held at 7 tonight on the Sturbridge Common. The cast is made up of 60 volunteers and live animals. Music will be provided by the Tantasqua Regional High School Choraleers. Bring lawn chairs for seating. In case of a storm, the pageant will be canceled.
